The formula mass is the sum of the atomic masses of all the atoms in its chemical formula.

You can find it by multiplying the number of atoms of first atoms by their atomic mass, and adding it to the number of second atoms times their atomic mass.

It is useful because it allows for the calculation of the exact molecular weight of a compound.
