SCID mice are a model for severe combined immunodeficiency disease in humans. These mice have precursor T and B cells that appear to be unable to differentiate into mature T and B lymphocytes. Because some of the SCID mice can still make immunoglobulin, they may have a small percentage of precursor cells that are able to mature. What type of mutation shows this "leaky" expression at a lower functional activity?
