In the circuit shown in the figure below, let L = 5.30 H, R = 7.90 Ω, and emf = 120 V. What is the self-induced emf 0.200 s after the switch is closed?

The current traveling in the circuit is given by:

I = Emf/R (1-e^(-t/L/R))   (*where I=current, R=resistance, t=time, L=inductance)

After finding the current, we can calculate the voltage flowing through the resistance using Ohm's law,

Voltage Resistor = I*R

Now you can find the Voltage in the Inductor:

Voltage Inductor = Total emf - Voltage Resistor
