In the process of drypoint, why is it unusual to find an edition number higher than 25?

     after a while, the ink swells and distorts the wood
     the burrs which hold the ink wear down after 25 prints
     the artist has to make a new plate with each proof
     the prints in an edition must include a number and a letter, such as 1a, 2b, 3c, etc.
     the less prints available, the more valuable each one is
