Why is cancer so much more common in older people than in young?

For most types of cancer, it usually takes multiple mutations to occur in a cell before it will become cancerous.
In older people, the DNA polymerase enzymes have been used repeatedly, and their ability to correct mutations has been exhausted.
Younger people have much better correcting mechanisms in their replication machinery.
All of the above are true.
